Macán was born from applying the modern techniques of a contemporary approach to history and the terroir. A difficult but fascinating challenge in a region like La Rioja, where centuries-old wineries abound.

We continue to acquire parcels in order to attain the greatest possible diversity in the creation of Macán and Macán Clásico. The goal is to ensure that our wines, which are grown in excellent terroirs, are as elegant as possible.

The aim is to become more global, to reach new markets, to travel to new countries. But also to "delocalize" Macán, so that a glass of Macán is served in all manner of tables and bars, unreservedly and forthrightly.

Respect

Macán and Macán Clásico respect the most authentic and typical style of a prestigious region. Once the vineyards where the grapes are to be grown have been identified, tasting becomes the key stage throughout the process, as in the truest Bordeaux style.

Patience

It took five years for Benjamin de Rothschild, Ariane de Rothschild and Pablo Álvarez to adapt the vineyard of their dreams from the original concept to the first harvest of Macán in 2009, having waited another seven years to build a winery fit for purpose.

Vision

Using our oldest vines, we have developed our own mass selection, the foundation of our heritage of today and future generations. We have also created our own clonal selection based on the DNA of our vines.
